(Newly started Course - From 2012)

Economics Department was started in the year 2012 -13 with the aim of providing an excellent understanding in the subject of Economics to the Rural students. We bestow Intelligence in addition with Character which is the key element of our department success. Our department environment imparts a work ethic and a set of principles that will give them the edge in their future studies and careers.

The core aim of the economics department is to make the students to achieve their maximum level of the knowledge, particularly in Economics and generally in current affairs to face the competitive world for their future success. To make the students more inquisitive to acquire knowledge for their future wellbeing.

Report on field visit by Economics mission

Students coming to this college are not only from poor economic backgrounds, they are also emotionally poor. So empower the women student in all facets and enrich their knowledge and research attitudes. This department plan to create future leaders in different fields namely, Research and development, Teaching, Politics, Administration, Financial Advisors, Business Magnets and as a Social Reformers in Planning Commitions etc.

Department Association - Seminar

Economics Association first year foundational function held on 03.10.2012. Dr. G. Ravi, MA., MPhil., PhD., DLL., DPM., Associate Professor, Department of Economics, Annamalai University, Chidambaram acted as a Chief Guest and gave a talk on, "World Economic Environment" among 180 Students.

Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam's programme

Five students of our college were selected and participated in The Honerable Ex. President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam's programme which is held at Periyar University, Salem on 12.01.2013 under the co-ordination and guidance of our department faculty Mrs. R. P.Buvaneswari.

Department Association - Seminar

Economics Association Seminar held on 06.02.2013. Dr. S.Iyyampillai, MA., MPhil., PhD., Senior Professor, Chair, School of Economics and Commerce, Bharathidasan University, Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli acted as a Chief Guest and presented a talk on, "India Today", among 166 students.

Womens's Day Celebration.

Women's day celebration was Coordinated by Mrs. R. P. Buvaneswari and organized by the Economics Department on 8th March 2013. The day was started by lighting the Kuthuvizhaku by the then Principal Dr. Kala Msc., Mphil., Phd., and opening ceremony of the new stage near by Digital Library and different cultural programs were given by all department students followed by delicious lunch was organized with the help of History and Commerce faculties and provided to all the teaching and non teaching faculties and ended with teachers' cultural programmes from various departments.

Department Association - Seminar

Economics Association Valedictory Function for the academic year 2012 – 2013 held on 20.03.2013. Mr. M.Kirubaharan, MBA., MPhil., Assistant Professor, Department of Management Studies, Indra Ganesan College of Engineering, Tiruchirappalli acted as a Chief Guest and gave a power-point presentation with group discussion in the title on "Knowledge Management" among 74 students.

Environmental Awareness programme

Economics Department arranged the Department Association Seminar on 21.02.2014 (12pm to 1 pm) Dr. E.G.Wesely, Msc., MPhil., PhD., Assistant Professor, Aringnar Anna Government Arts College, Namakkal acted as a Chief Guest and gave a talk on "Environmental Awareness" among 64 students.

World Planting Day

Economics Department was celebrated a "World Planting Day" and Trees are planted by our faculty members and students on 21st March 2014 and an elaborated talk was given by the staff members among the students about the importance of tree planting and economical benefits of protecting the environment (Environmental economics).

Department Association - Seminar

Economics Association 2nd Year, Inaugural Function for the academic year 2013 – 2014 held on 04.03.2014. Dr.M.Loganathan, MA., MPhil., PhD., Associate Professor, Department of Economics, Aringnar Anna Government Arts College, Namakkal acted as a Chief Guest and gave a talk on "Role of Women in Economics" among 64 students.

Educational Tour

An Educational Tour (field trip) was arranged by the department for the third year students with two staff members on 16.12.2014, to Mettur Dam, to learn the benefits of water irrigation, Hydro electric power stations, environmental, tourism and economic development.

Department Association - Seminar

The department of Economics inaugurated the 3rd year Economic Association function in the academic year 2014 – 2015 on 4th December 2014. Dr.P.Sivasankar, Assistant professor, Muthurangam Government Arts College, Vellore addressed on "Economics theories and its application in our practical life" among 102 students.

Exhibition: "NKR ECO - MODULES 2015"

22nd January 2015 is a remarkable day for the Department of Economics. The Department organized the "Exhibition". Students prepared the modules under four major headings such as, Infrastructural Economics, Environmental Economics, Entrepreneurship, Tourism and Economic development. Faculties from various colleges in Economics Department such as, Aringnar Anna Govt. Arts College, Nammakkal, Thiruvalluvar Govt. Arts college, Rasipuram, Kandhasami Kandar College, Paramathi Vellore and Govt. Arts, Salem -7 have participated and encouraged the students.
